PacSun USA Surf Team Marches Forward in Pounding Surf during Second Day of Competition
All USA Surfers but one advance in the Qualifying Rounds while surging swell continues in Punta Hermosa
Punta Hermosa, Peru – Friday, October 22, 2010 – The PacSun USA Surf Team continued its quiet march toward the podium in the second day of competition at the 2010 Billabong ISA World Surfing Games in Punta Hermosa, Peru. All but one of the USA Team athletes advanced through their Qualifying Round heats in mist, fog, and large, pounding surf.
The increase in swell continues–and is expected to begin a slow, gradual easing beginning Saturday. The Surfline Official Forecast is calling for the large, SW-SSW groundswell to continue its production of well overhead surf. Sets will be in the double to triple overhead range (10-15′ faces) with even larger sets likely on occasion.
“Today’s competition was incredible,” said Ian Cairns, Head Coach of the PacSun USA Surf Team. “The surf continued to come up as expected and Team USA had a great showing in very tough conditions. We’re on a good path.”
