SkimChicks Travel to Participate in First All-Female Professional Division Competition

LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. (June 7, 2010)— SkimChicks , a grassroots organization with a vision for elevating and legitimizing female skimboarding, today announced its sponsorship of the 34th Annual Victoria Skimboards World Championship of Skimboarding, coinciding with the company’s signing of 15 athletes as new SkimChicks and the addition of the first all-female professional division competition at the event June 19-20.

“We’re excited to play a pivotal role in establishing the first professional tour for women skimboarders by sponsoring one of the circuit’s most prestigious events,” says SkimChicks’ co-founder, Pamela Simpson, who will serve as a women’s division announcer alongside Garth Wyckoff and “The Goddess of Skimboarding,” Amber Cottle. “As an athlete-first organization, we’re dedicated to uniting the sport’s female pioneers – and thrilled to showcase the talent of the SkimChicks.”

Top finishers in the event at Aliso Beach Park, open to the 50 most qualified riders, will have an opportunity to win one of the largest ever professional purses, and sponsor-donated goodies including swimsuits and wax from the prize room at the surf-inspired Hotel La Casa Del Camino. Competitors will be judged on their top seven rides, earning the highest scores for completing the most radical, controlled maneuvers in the most critical section of the biggest waves for the longest distance. Brad Dickey, Robert Salazar and Lance Brooks will fill three of the five judge seats for the event, with Conley Ware serving as spotter. The SkimChicks team is comprised of Honorary SkimChick, Amber Cottle, and:
