HONOLULU, April 27, 2010 — Sponsor Me will return to Ala Moana Bowls, Hawaii, on June 14-26, 2010 with the $25,000 Sponsor Me Hawaii 2-star World Qualifying Series (WQS) surfing competition. The event will be broadcast live over the internet by surf.transworld.net, the leader of online surfing culture in connection with Ubiquity Broadcasting Corporation. It will also be live on the web at sponsorme.tv.

Sponsor Me Hawaii is sanctioned by the Association of Surfing Professionals Hawaii (ASP Hawaii) and is open to both amateur and professional surfers who are looking to gain traction in the pro ranks. The contest  is critically important to Hawaii’s local surfers on three levels: International ratings points, the opportunity to win prize money, and the chance to claim a spot in the coveted year-end $1,000,000 Vans Triple Crown of Surfing series.

Sponsor Me entered the competition arena in 2009 with the inaugural event at Ala Moana Bowls. This year they have stepped the contest up from a 1-star to a 2-star rated competition, more than doubling the prize money and ratings points.

“It brings us an incredible amount of satisfaction to be part of this grass roots contest again this year,” said Connie Jordan, Sponsor Me Co-Founder.

The mission of Sponsor Me is to bring the spotlight to the best undiscovered action sports talent in the nation and grow them to be strong athletes who will take their respective sports to new levels. That means starting at the true grassroots level and providing them with a way to work towards their goals.

After the enormous success of the event last year, the Sony Corporation has come on board as one of the main sponsors at Ala Moana Bowls this year. Sony is enthralled with Sponsor Me’s business plan and finds it a perfect fit for their products and business model.

“We are beyond excited that Sony is participating in this event,” said Chris Carmichael, Sponsor Me Co-Founder.

Sponsor Me has also teamed up with TransWorld SURF, Ubiquity Broadcasting Corporation, Sony Corporation and ASP Hawaii to broadcast the entire event live. Ubiquity Broadcasting Corporation is on the cutting edge of technology and equipment. Daniel Swiney, Ubiquity’s Director of Live Webcasts, has done over 100 live broadcasts, and revolutionized the live surf webcasting industry by introducing live HD Flash Streaming.

“The Sponsor Me Hawaii Ala Moana Bowls Contest is one of my favorites to do because of the beautiful location and raw talent in the contest,” Swiney said.

Makua Rothman, big wave rider and two-time world tow-in champion will be back to compete at Bowls.

“The Sponsor Me Hawaii Contest is a great event for the locals,” said Rothman. “I can’t wait to surf at Bowls. It is the premier surf spot on Oahu’s South Shore.”
