Camp Woodward and longtime surf camp director Evan Caples have partnered to launch Surf Camp. The new camp will be located in the legendary surf community of Ventura, California. Woodward Surf Camp will offer day camp sessions beginning June 6 for surfers of all skill levels between the ages of 7 and 17 at Ventura’s most teachable surf breaks.
The thought of partnering with Woodward to create the best surf program in the industry is a dream come true,” says Woodward Surf Camp Director Evan Caples. “With Woodward’s 40 years of experience and their stand-alone industry presence, Woodward Surf Camp is going to set the bar higher for surf camps everywhere, giving kids an amazing opportunity to further their skills and provide memories of their Woodward experience that will last a lifetime.”
“Working with Evan is a natural fit with his expertise in running surf camps and familiarity with Woodward,” says Woodward Camp President Gary Ream. “This is something Woodward has wanted to do for a long time, and we’re excited about bringing The Woodward Experience to the beach.”
Woodward Surf Camp will offer optional pick-up and drop-off transportation and surf campers will have the option of taking a day trip to visit Woodward West in Tehachapi, Calif., to take advantage of world-renowned skateboard facilities. Conversely, Woodward West’s campers will have the opportunity to participate in a day trip to Woodward Surf Camp.
To celebrate the launch of Woodward Surf Camp, Woodward is hosting a Pro/Am surf contest, “Woodward Ambush Surf,” which will take place on May 29th at Mandalay Beach, Oxnard, Calif.
