Sections A Plenty

Maybe Taylor Steele’s lazy, or maybe he’s jaded, or maybe he’s just utilizing the internet to create the first user created surf flick. It’s name will be Innersection and it will be comprised of four different submission cycles in which five winners will be selected by the users of the website from each cycle. The first of the four cycles has kicked off and the ratings, comments, and clips are going mad over on Innersection.tv.

Here’s the feedback from the directors (the users) of our favorites so far [you can check out each section by clicking on the surfer's name]:

Nate Tyler (current rating: 6.6)

That was pretty unreal Nate. Dug the song and the ambient nature of the lifestyle/scenic shots. Thought it all really came together towards the end with some turns and backside waves. Nicely done.

By my count: 20 front side airs 1 backside air ~2.5 tubes ~6 hacks 2 cutbacks 1 floater 2X as many front side airs as any other maneuver. Good music. Good filming. Repetitious.

Dylan Graves (current rating: 5.6)

Always thought Dylan’s surfing was solid. Don’t know if I’ve ever seen a full part from him. That was pretty solid, covered everything. Not ground breaking, but that close out alone was 7 points.

Ripping Dylan, sems like you really start to fire up in Barbados and then I think maybe at the end at your home…I liked it

one of the better filmed sections ive seen so far, I think the song could have been better. I dont think it suited the intensity of the section.

I had no idea this kid surfed so good. When are you going to leave PR and get some more clips?

Nice to see surfing in solid barreling surf. Until this clip all I saw was 2-3 foot onshore air reverses’ everytime I closed my eyes. Those clips at the begining, of that trip, were nice to see.

Backside, frontside pits. Lots of pits. An air or two. Some hacks. Close out barrels. Artistic. Good music. Could be polished a bit more (sped up the cards maybe?). I like.

this would be a good section to even out the new school small waves surfing with some power hacks and big barrels, also loved the idea behind it

Solid, as expected. Cool concept. Definitely at the top of the pile. Would have liked to see some beach break ripping to round it out, but really I wouldn’t. Get barreled! Concept was right on…

Matt Wilkinson (current rating: 5.4)

for me one of the best for sure. He shows lot of things with old school (big carve, floater, roundhouse cutback) and new school (big airs, freaking rodeo) surfing and all with lot of style ! 8/10

That’s what it takes to get your first part in Taylor’s movie. Hi-fi shredding. Wanted to see something strong from Wilko, and thought that delivered on the money. IN!

Shaun Cansdell (current rating: 5.0)

Wow, nice to see a sticker on his nose at the end. Sure has the whole package. Maybe a few too many spins, knowing the power he’s got. Love his tube style. Close to making the cut.

he’s one of my favorite surfers but the part doesn’t do him justice. some of the airs are small. He’s amazing in the water. i may watch again though. music is ok too.

Shaun Cansdell has really stepped up his game since stranger than fiction. He with out a doubt has the most diverse section out of everyone. He throws some great combos, airs, and really good tubes.
