8pm: Just had some awesome kebabs with the boys and ran into Dane Reynolds and his little crew at the same joint. Dane went ballistic in his heat today, yet when he came in, said he was surfing “really bad.” Seriously?

It’s pouring rain at the moment, but there is some more swell on the way and tomorrow looks like it could be game on at Snapper Rocks for round 3 of the Quiksilver Pro Gold Coast and and the Roxy Pro Gold Coast. Stay tuned…

Noon: Still raining, gonna walk down to the comp and watch a few heats. Hopefully my camera won’t get too wet…

Above: Chris interviews Ozzie Wright at the grand opening party of “Komune”, the joint we all staying at. Free Corona’s and Jagermeister were flowing and the ladies were dressed to the nines. Our motley crew of boardshort wearing barefoot hooligans didn’t quite fit in, but it was good times regardless.

Two of our favorite photogs, Jason Reposar and Steve Sherman with lovely Natasha at the Komune grand opening party.

11am: Just got back from a surf with the crew at Fingal, an isolated beachbreak on the other side of the Tweed River. We showed up with eight frothing Seppos, ran into Taylor Knox, and pretended we were back home at Ponto complete wiith heckling, paddle battles, and burn jobs. The sea lice and jellyfish also made it interesting…

Carissa Moore and Greg Browning.

7am: Went to the contest site to check in and get a free breaky and ran into 2010 ASP World Tour rookie Carissa Moore with Greg Browning of Drive Thru fame. Turn out Browning is doing a documentary on Carissa. She is the sweetest girl, always has a big smile, and absolutely rips at surfing so I’m kind of excited to see the end result.
