ASR: Three Show Environments, Two Days, Dozens of Events in San Diego this Week!
Beyond buying ASR, Class@ASR and Crossroads feature seminars, runway shows, contests, premieres and more, February 3 and 4
San Juan Capistrano, CA (February 1, 2010) – ASR rolls into San Diego this week with three unique show environments and dozens of events including skate contests, runways, demos, premieres and parties. Not only is ASR where action sports takes care of business for the coming season, but also an opportunity to network with 18,000 peers, while appreciating the unique vibe of action sports.
On the business side, free seminars provide a forum where the industry can learn from market experts. During ASR, BRA is hosting a variety of retail-focused educational programs starting off with the Retailer Survivor Series, which is a full-day program focused on merchandising and digital retailing on February 2nd. The 15 seminars offered throughout ASR include everything from anti-counterfeiting to building skateparks in your community and ways to capitalize on the recovering economy.
The ASR Runway puts young contemporary and juniors’ apparel, footwear and accessory trends for fall in motion twice during ASR. The flirty, fast-paced show titled “A Royal Affair” comes alive on Wednesday and Thursday, at 3:00 in Hall E.
Skate takes center stage as two $10,000 prize purses are given out over two days in San Diego. On Wednesday at 2PM, Volcom’s Best Trick Jam takes over ASR’s 64′ mini-ramp. And Thursday at 4:00, Crossroads will host a Best Trick contest sponsored by Thrasher, Zero and Vans at the street course set up in the PetCo Parking lot.
IPATH & Nibwaakaawin Present “A Path to Wisdom Skatedeck Art Auction” in Meeting Room 23A on Wednesday starting at 4PM. Bid on original art pieces from skate legends, mainstream and Native American artists to help “at-risk” youth on reservations across the nation. The first night of ASR wraps up as SPoT’s Am Awards and The Skateboard Mag join forces to recognize the best Ams of the year with video highlights and some laid-back awards.
The Action Sports Environmental Coalition, ASEC, highlights the action sports industry’s steps toward sustainability. Stop by the ‘Green Room’ centered against the far wall of ASR. Check out natural product lines from action sports brands, sustainable business solutions and taste natural foods and beverages. Experts are on hand to help retailers buy ‘green’ products or even set up ‘green’ sections within stores.
For a little pampering during the big days of work during ASR, stop by Lefty’s Barbershop as you walk into ASR for an old fashioned shave courtesy of Atwater. At CLASS@ASR Barracuda Salon makes the trip from Melrose Ave to indulge attendees with a complimentary trim, blow dry or beauty tip from the stylists of Barracuda Salon. Once your hair’s in order, check out one of Osea Spa’s three signature treatments that have been created specially for CLASS@ASR attendees.
Film premieres are set to light up the nights at ASR. Crossroads will be presenting the video, Supercharged ‘The Life and Times of Tim Brauch’ on Wednesday at 4PM. Cliché’s Gypsy premieres immediately after Supercharged at 5:30PM.
