Things To Do In The Surf World

Billabong Pipeline Masters Is ON!

The legendary Bonzai Pipeline is going off. There’s a lot on the line for this comp: an ASP World Title dual between Joel Parkinson and Mick Fanning, a Pipe Masters crown, and a Triple Crown dual between Joel Parkinson and Sunny Garcia. Too bad Sunny was late for his heat, giving the up and coming Torrey Meister a shot to prove himself.

To sweeten the deal, Vans has thrown in an extra $50k for each title. You know how every ten or fifteen years something so epic happens in the surfing world that nobody will ever forget? This is it, history in the making. If you aren’t over on the islands for this momentous event, get online while you’re cooped up in your cubicle, office, home, wherever and watch the live action at www.triplecrownofsurfing.com. And stay tuned to transworldsurf.com for the entire wrap-up and photos.

TW SNOW?

Waves are on the drop this weekend, so I guess if you can’t beat the weather, join it! With a low pressure system moving onshore the beginning of this weekend, Southern California is gonna see some rain—meaning Big Bear, Mountain High, Mammoth, and Summit will be covered in fresh, glistening, blinding white powder. Go snowboard. Snowboard your heart out.

Stay tuned to www.twsurf.com and www.magicseaweed.com for wave reports so you know when to head down the mountain and back to the wonderful world of surf.

Back To The Seventies

If you’ve ever dreamed of creating your masterpiece on a canvas as big as a VW bus, Kona Brewing may be giving you the chance of a lifetime. From now through December 31, 2009, Kona is issuing a call for entries for artists to submit their best interpretation of Aloha to paint on the company’s 1970 Volkswagen bus. The winning artist will be awarded a $250 painting contract and Kona will pay for all materials to complete the job.  Winning artist or team of artists will also receive the glory of seeing their designs rolling up and down Pacific Coast Highway next summer as well as basking in the limelight as the guest of honor at an unveiling party in February 2010. So, if you’re an artist, or even just a doodler, I would strongly suggest you get on that. Go to www.konabrewingco.com/VWAloha for more information.

Head to 26th Street in Santa Cruz this Saturday and be a part of the tour, the cause, and the company. Go to volcom.com for more info on all of the above.

Christmas Shopping

Because shit, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.

I went shopping yesterday, and I have to say, people get vicious when it comes to the holidays. Get your shopping done before the mobs of crazed grandparents start charging the isles. Target man, it gets crazy.
