LOBITOS, Piura/Peru (Friday, November 6, 2009) – Event organizers at the Movistar Peru Classic presented by Rip Curl, Event No. 5 of 7 of 2009 ASP Women’s World Tour, have opted to call competition off for today, with onshore winds and low tides preventing a recommencement.

“We sat it out for six hours hoping the tide would assist conditions,” Richie Porta, ASP Women’s World Tour Head Judge, said. “Unfortunately, the swell has not fully eventuated. We have all decided it’s worth rolling the dice and hoping for improved conditions and a bigger swell tomorrow come morning.”

When competition resumes, up first will be Melanie Bartels (HAW), 27, Megan Abubo (HAW), 31, and Nadja DeCol (PER), 19, in Round 1 of the elimination Round 2.

Highlights from past days’ Movistar Peru Classic will be available via aspworldtour.com.

The Movistar Peru Classic presented by Rip Curl will host the ASP Top 17 from November 3 – 8, 2009.
