PT Invites You To HB For Rip Curl’s “Surfboards In The Sand” This Saturday The 19th
How many surfboards can we get in the sand on Saturday is the challenge, in an effort to raise awareness for our environmental issues in our surf whilst benefiting the ongoing efforts of the Surfrider Foundation and The Orange County Coast Keepers.
On-site registration begins with the “Dawn Patrol” at 6.30am, through 10.00am. and that will be followed by a historic photo of the inaugural Rip Curl’s “Surfboards in the Sand” scheduled to take place between 10.00am and 11.00am including an aerial shot from a helicopter.
You can register online at surfboardsinthesand.com for $10.00 until the end of the day Thursday the 17th, or on the beach for $20.00 on Saturday, which gets you a commemorative Rip Curl T-Shirt, subscription to TransWorld SURF and a wristband that will get you discounts on Main Street all day long.
Registrants will join surf legends, champions and celebrities including the first women’s champion at the pier Linda Benson, the current Hurley US Open champions at the pier Brett Simpson and Courtney Conlogue and three-time World Champion Tom Curren.
The event is proving to be a mini-reunion for the Eighties cult classic Hollywood surf movie “North Shore” with cast members Gregory Harrison (Chandler), Matt Adler (Rick Kane), Nia Peeples (Kiani) and John Philbin (Turtle) all attending and will be joined by actress Tanna Frederick who recently starred in Henry Jaglom’s “Irene in Time”.
In addition, there will live music in the outdoor auditorium from noon until three.
Come out and support these great causes and enjoy a fun day at the beach.
