2008 Atlantic Hurricane Season Visualization

With a small grade tropical depression finally forming off the coast of Africa, we’re psyching up for 2009′s hurricane season.

Hence this wrap-up video courtesy NOAA. This visulaization was compiled by NOAA’s GOES satellite, which takes images of the Northern Hemisphere every fifteen minutes. It’s pretty detailed and gives you a good idea of how storms are formed, the paths they took, a view of pressure systems, and a general hurricane froth. Man, that Atlantic is like a storm system machine that time of the year, just spewing out storm after storm. Check out the three-storm helping of Gustav, Hanna, and Ike around the 1:30 mark.
