Authorities say an Okeechobee man bitten by a shark while surfing off New Smyrna Beach was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
A beach patrol spokesman says it’s not unusual to be bitten by sharks.
April is a prime month because of murky water, good waves and lots of bait fish in the surf.
