Officially, the LandShark Spring Surfari Pro held April 1-5 was a celebration for the 30th anniversary of the Smyrna Surfari Club, one of the oldest surf clubs in America.

It also marked pro surfing’s return to New Smyrna Beach after 20 years. Despite owning the most consistent and often best wave on the East Coast, this city watched and waited all that time as events passed on them again and again. Then at the LandShark, the volcano erupted.
