Pacific Sunwear Continues USA Surf Team Sponsorship Through 2009

Major retailer retains title sponsorship for fourth consecutive year

San Juan Capistrano, Calif. – January 14, 2009 – Surfing America, the National Governing Body for surfing in the USA, is excited to announce that Pacific Sunwear has renewed its title sponsorship of the USA Surf Team for 2009, marking a fourth year of support.

A leading retailer in youth lifestyle apparel, PacSun operates over 900 stores and supports surfing and other action sports at many levels. PacSun also backs up their financial support of the program with nationwide advertising campaigns featuring PacSun USA Surf Team athletes.

PacSun’s sponsorship provides much needed financial support to the non-profit organization. Along with a year-round USA Surf Team training program, Surfing America also hosts the annual SIMA Surfing America USA Championships, the PacSun Battle of the Brands.

Coach Joey Buran has been consistently training the 2009 squad for the Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championships this March in Ecuador. Buran and the Surfing America selection committee welcomed four new additions to the squad based on mid-season competitive flare-ups. Christian Arballo, Chandler Parr, Catherine Clark and Kanoa Igarashi round out the strongest roster in recent years.
