The O’Neill Sebastian Inlet Pro Presented By Ron Jon Is Off Again Today
SEBASTIAN INLET, Florida (Tuesday, January 13, 2009) – Due to a lack of swell and unfavorable wind conditions the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP) World Qualifying Series (WQS) 4-Star O’Neill Sebastian Inlet Pro presented by Ron Jon was forced to call off today’s competition.
The O’Neill Sebastian Inlet Pro is the opening event to the 2009 ASP WQS season, with all competitors striving to earn points towards qualification for the 2010 ASP Dream Tour. This year’s competitors will look to start their year off on the right foot at the East Coast’s largest event.
Event coordinators originally put today’s event on hold in an attempt to begin the Round of 160 this afternoon, but due to the high tide, lack of swell and unfavorable winds, officials were forced to push the opening day of the O’Neill Sebastian Inlet Pro off until tomorrow.
“We really wanted to get the competition underway, but it’s currently not contestable,” Head Judge Jeff Klugel said. “I’ve checked the forecasts and it doesn’t seem possible to start the contest today. We are expecting to begin the event tomorrow.”
Event officials will meet tomorrow to make a 7am call for a potential 7:30am start.
The LIVE O’Neill Sebastian Inlet Pro pres. by Ron Jon action will be webcast LIVE via www.oneillsipro.com and has a holding date from January 12-18, 2009.
