Bruce Irons (pictured above) arrived on Oahu last week to post up at the Volcom Pipe House and make it his home for the season. Bruce will be surfing in the Triple Crown events and waiting for big swells at Pipe. The Bruce Irons Volcom Store recently opened for business in Waikiki. Go check it out if you are in the area, and be the first to grab the 2009 Bruce Annihilator boardshort.

You don’t have to be King Neptune to win Volcom Stone’s $10,000 Kickflipoff. So far we’ve seen great attempts and horrendous ones. With the tally of broken fins and skin gashes climbing, time presses on to see the first person successfully complete a proper kickflip on a surfboard. Along with $10,000, the winner will also receive a 2-page spread feature in TransWorld SURF and their name on the cover! What are you waiting for?

For all you rockers out there in Hawaii, we have something great in store for you next month, as Volcom Entertainmen’s 2nd annual Volcanic Rock-Out hits the island of Oahu. Valient Thorr will be playing shows with some local acts on Dec. 11th in Haleiwa, the 13th in Kailua, and on the 20th in Honolulu, so make sure you don’t miss your chance to rock out with Volcom.

Dean Morrison is still currently at home in Australia recovering from a hip injury that has had him out of the water for a while. Dean has been doing physical therapy and is hoping to make it to Hawaii for some later season swells. In other news, Dean had a hair raising boating mishap while at home and had to swim for his life along with some of his mates. Dusty Payne recently returned home to Hawaii from Bali where he had the biggest contest win of his 19 year-old life. Dusty took 1st place and won $20,000 in the Oakley Global Junior Challenge in perfect waves. After returning, Dusty went straight to the North Shore and won the next contest he entered, The Ronnie Burns Memorial Pro Junior at Sunset. Dusty has been rocking the new EA Featured Art Mod, and you should too!

Last month Ozzie Wright visited us here in California. Ozzie came through to surf, do some art and join the Volcom team on a road trip north to Santa Cruz. Check out the photos and video of the trip here. On the last day of the trip, Ozzie damaged his right knee and now is at home on the road to recovery. Ozzie also has a new boardshort coming out in the following weeks, the Ozzie Smiles Featured Art Mod.

Alex Gray has planted himself in Hawaii as he usually does about this time of year. Alex will be focusing on the last WQS contests of the year, gathering video footage for his next project and keeping an eye out for any potential Mavericks swells. Alex has been sporting the new Spring ’09 Comicazee Mod.

Mitch Coleborn has been spending some time at home in Australia shooting photos and video before heading out to Hawaii. Speaking of video, check out this amazing clip of Mitch from a recent trip to Indonesia. This unreal shit has been entered in The Kustom Air Strike and very well could earn Mitch $50,000. Mitch like to boost his airs in the new Thisisatest Mod.

Andrew Doheny just came back from Puerto Escondido where he made it to the quarters in the WQS contest, scored some good tubes and ate Mexican food. After the last Pro Junior event of the season last month in Santa Cruz, Andrew found himself third in the ratings which secured him a spot in The World Junior Championships in Australia in January. Go Droid!

Blake Jones also qualified for The World Junior Champs by placing 5th for the North America Junior season. Last weekend Blake won the Air Show division of The King of the Peak contest at his local spot Sebastian Inlet.
