Rabbit Kekai, charismatic 87-year-old Hawaiian waterman, will be the guest of honor at the California Surf Museum’s annual Old Timers’ Day, Sunday, Oct. 5, from 1-4pm. The event, held at Oceanside Library’s Community Rooms, 330 N. Coast Highway (across the street from the museum) is open to the public, and an optional lavish luau is available for $15, ($12 for museum members). The Moonlight Beach Ukulele Strummers and Dancers, under the direction of Frank Leong, will provide authentic island atmosphere – perhaps even Rabbit will join in on a tune or two. Free parking adjoins the Library, and parking is also available throughout downtown Oceanside on Sundays. Everyone is welcome to come by to meet this incredible legend and hear a few of his many stories. For more information, or to order luau tickets, contact the California Surf Museum at 760-721-6876, firstname.lastname@example.org.
