SAN DIEGO – Four young men pleaded guilty to criminal charges on Friday in connection with the death of professional surfer Emery Kauanui Jr, 24.
Eric House, Matthew Yanke, and Orlando Osuna all pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter charges.
Henri “Hank” Hendricks pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact.
A fifth defendant, Seth Cravens, is scheduled to stand trial on murder charges.
The five men had been accused of fatally beating Kauanui in the early morning hours of May 24, 2007 after an earlier altercation in a La Jolla bar. The five faced charges including murder, assault and battery.
Cravens remains in County Jail on $1.5 million bail. The others have been free on bond.
