NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., (June 4, 2008) – Freestyle, the original action sports watch manufacturer, is proud to announce its continued sponsorship of surfer Cory Lopez and the addition of new surf team member Anthony Walsh.
Freestyle has re-signed a multi-year contract with pro team surfer Cory Lopez. Marketing Director, Chad LaBass is thrilled to continue working with Lopez. “We are pumped to build upon our already solid relationship with Cory and to begin development of his third generation signature watch,” said LaBass. “Now that Cory is free from the tour he has the flexibility to chase the world’s best waves. We are backing his new program 100%.” Lopez agrees, “The relationship with Freestyle has been solid for years, I’m excited to keep it going and can’t wait to start working on the new piece.” Freestyle will collaborate with Lopez to begin designing Lopez’s third signature series watch, the Lopex World Class III, which is slated for release in fall 2009.
Freestyle has also signed hard-charging Australian surfer, Anthony Walsh, to the team. Walsh placed 2nd in the 2007 Billabong Pro Tahiti Trials and has already landed two major Australian surf magazine covers this year. He is a stellar addition to the team. “It’s no secret that Walshy is one of the hardest working pros in the business,” said LaBass. “Young aspiring pros should be taking notes, Walshy just charges and is a true professional!” “I’m stoked to be on board with Freestyle,” says Walsh. “They’re a great brand and I couldn’t be happier to represent.”
