The Yerba Buena Center for the Arts is premiering “Surf Trip” a contemporary exhibition of contemporary artwork and other surfing-inspired visuals honoring the thriving surf communities of coastal California.
There will be an opening party at the center on May 12 and the show will run from May 13 to July 23. Guest curated by Ocean Beach surfer Bob Carrillo, the show will feature paintings, installations, sculpture, film and video from San Francisco artists Jessica Dunne, Kevin Ancell, Leo Bersamina, Margaret Kilgallen, Keith Tallett and Barry McGee aka Twist, among others.
Los Angeles artists include Gomez Bueno, Russell Crotty, Craig Stecyk, Raymond Pettibon, Jim Ganzer, Peter Schroff, Brian Taylor and others. The show will also feature a series of the six most influential surf movies ever made, and a collection of exotic surfboards, in addition to other wave riding inventions.
