Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. (Nasdaq:PSUN) recently reported sales of $74.9-million for the five-week period ended Jan. 2, 2000, an increase of 35.7 percent over sales of $55.2-million for the comparable five-week period ended Jan. 3, 1999. Same store sales increased 8.6 percent for the period.
“December was a very good month for PacSun, with excellent merchandise margins,” stated Greg Weaver, chairman and CEO.
“Within PacSun, our Junior (girls) and accessory businesses were very strong with double digit comp increases, while our young men’s business posted a low single digit comp increase. Our d.e.m.o. chain had double digit same store sales increases during the month and our e commerce business exceeded our sales expectations for December,” concluded Weaver.
Total sales for the first eleven months of fiscal 1999 were $414.8-million, an increase of 35.8 percent over sales of $305.5-million for the first eleven months of fiscal 1998. Same stores sales increased 7.6 percent for the first eleven months of fiscal 1999.
