Butterfish Season Finals, Volcom Crustaceous Tour

Volcom Stone held The Butterfish Championships at Tar Pits in Carpinteria

On March 4th, 2001. The conditions were pure misery with the worst storm front that Santa Barbara had seen all winter, But that didn’t dampen the spirit of the competitors in any way. South winds provided small but rippable crossed up peaks and after it was all said and done the lucky few rose to the top.

In the grom division, it came down to wonder kid Kilian Garland versus local hero Bummy Koepenick battling it out for first Place. Bummy started really strong and looked as though he smashed Kilian early, but, Kilian came back mid heat and did not let up to take the win.

In the Juniors, it was another local kid Blake Howard dominating his local break and walking away with the win. Tarik Kashogi was on fire the early rounds and finished a strong second.

The Mens Pro-Am featured Walt Cerney from Pismo Beach and new comer Bobby Moris batling it out for first. In the end Bobby Morris seamed to find the right waves to take the win.

We will see you all on March 17th and 18th 2001 at 54th St. In Newport Beach for Volcom Stone’s Totally Crustaceous Tour Championships.
